The FISHER BARTON GROUP COMPANIES have been awarded 18 patents for various metallurgy and process innovations. We are constantly developing new applications and improvements due to our inexhaustible appetite for discovery. Our commitment is simple: to develop high wear solutions and processes to consistently deliver products that perform better and longer.
To achieve this commitment, we work closely with our FISHER BARTON TECHNOLOGY CENTER to develop new solutions, technologies, materials, and processes to create new parts that improve performance for our customers.
In 2011, we opened a new, state-of-the-art materials research laboratory at our Specialty Products subsidiary in Watertown, Wisconsin, to serve all our divisions and to house a full range of the most up-to-date instruments for the microscopic, chemical and mechanical analysis of metals and other materials.
In 2014, we transformed it from materials research to laser development to further enhance our materials' characteristics. We're also now able to provide full mechanical testing of the innovations we're creating and developing prototype manufacturing cells for new product lines before going into full production.
Our materials testing lab equipment includes an SEM microscope with energy dispersive spectrometry for high-magnification imaging, and elemental and chemical characterization; X-ray fluorescence and diffraction for analyzing complex, unknown bulk samples, and identifying the elements and crystallographic structure of the sample, and; drop-weight impact testing that produces a highly-sensitive time history of applied force and deformation during a test.
We also have a pro-active relationship where we train and mentor students from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
